On the day, I arrive nice and early to make sure everyone involved is happy, calm and prepared. Once you are both ready to begin, I officiate your ceremony. It’s lovely to start with welcoming everyone – an ideal moment to formally acknowledge them as being the most important people in your lives. I tell your heartfelt story, from the day you met, right up until your vow renewal. It’s so wonderful for all your guests to be able to hear your most treasured, vivid and, sometimes, very amusing memories. You will find it incredibly moving, as you will both reminisce on your most cherished times together. I share words about the love you share and what you admire most about one another and then, the most beautiful part, you each share your vows. Couples like to include special readings which are interspersed and some choose to involve a symbolic gesture. You can also both sign a commemorative certificate, as a special keepsake should you wish. It really can involve anything and anyone you’d like! You have complete freedom over absolutely everything! Your Vow Renewal is a great opportunity to share music that is really meaningful to you both, whether it’s live or recorded, it really helps to set the tone for your ceremony. Perhaps there is a piece of music that was played on your wedding day you’d like to include, like your first dance. It could be a song that reminds you of a special time together. You might like to embrace some of your all-time favourite tunes, ones you’ve enjoyed together over the years, a great way to bring back some good old memories. Your musical choices can be anything from really romantic and moving, to unexpected selections full of fun and personality, like “You Make My Dreams (Come True) by Hall & Oates” or “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by the one and only Stevie Wonder. Modern Classics might be more suited to you like, "Better Together" by Jack Johnson or Happy Together by the Turtles. Maybe you’d like to include an unexpected, sing-along to something everyone will know like, "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles! Most often couple's choose 2 or 3 pieces of music to include, one for your entrance (if you’re having one), the signing of your certificate (if you include this) and then your finale! I’m available to chat through ideas, vows, readings, rituals and anything else you might like to discuss, so that you feel completely confident and prepared. We will meet up around 6 months before your wedding day, where I will get to know you as a couple and find out all about your journey together - your love story. It’s such a gorgeous session, where I will guide you in reminiscing on the most cherished memories you share! I discover your personalities and values, your ideas and preferences. I provide as much or as little inspiration as you’d like, helping you to decide on what the perfect ceremony looks like for you!

When Should We Arrange Our Vow Renewal?
You can renew your vows whenever you wish! There are no rules. Whenever it feels right for you. Many couples choose to hold their ceremony to celebrate a significant milestone or anniversary, for example; on their 10th or 20th Wedding Anniversary. The season might inspire you - perhaps you always wanted a summers day on a beach or a winters evening, candle lit ceremony?
What Do We Wear?
Whatever you want. Would you like it to be formal or casual? Consider what will make you both feel special yet comfortable. Maybe you’d like to dress in something extra special, wear an item with sentimental value, a themed ceremony might feel right for you or perhaps you’re even considering if you can squeeze back into THE dress or THE suit!? It’s also worth considering where you decide to hold your ceremony and the season you choose to have it in. Remember to give your guests an idea of the dress code.
Where Do We Hold Our Ceremony?
Anywhere you wish! You are free from religious or legal obligations so, as long as you have the necessary permission, you can hold your ceremony anywhere you’d like! Perhaps you’d like to hold it somewhere that holds special significance to you both, maybe where you first met or even where you married. It could be at your home, in a family garden or a marquee. You might like the sound of a local wood, a pretty park or a stylish hotel. Maybe something more adventurous is your cup of tea and you’d like a romantic beach at sunset, a lakeside setting or a boat on the water. The possibilities are endless. Keep your style and budget in mind and how many people you’d like to invite. It’s worth considering if you want to host a reception after your renewal whether that’s a buffet, afternoon tea or a grand wedding style breakfast. It’s completely your choice.

How Will I Make Sure Your Guests will LOVE Your Ceremony?
I’m highly skilled at keeping everyone completely happy, engaged and moved. Your guests get to hear the inside story; how you met, what attracted you to one another, heartfelt and funny memories you share and what you Iove most about one another. With me, everyone will feel the love in the air and feel absolutely privileged to be entrusted to share in your most treasured memories and the depths of the love you share. It’s such a beautiful atmosphere and a truly encapsulating experience, that’s really meaningful and heart-warming for everyone present. Maybe you’d like to involve your guests in some way or provide important roles for those extra special people. Perhaps you’d love to include your beloved pet (I adore animals, so I’m the first in line for cuddles!).
There are so many options! Nothing compares! I genuinely couldn’t be more passionate about what I do! I absolutely love it and could not ask for a better role!!
How Long Will Our Ceremony Last?
Normally they are between 20-30 minutes, depending on your preference and whether or not you are having a registrar conduct the legal side as part of your ceremony. Your wish is my command – I can make yours as long or as short as you’d like, and I can most certainly advise on what’s best to keep everyone engaged and happy!
Would your Vow Renewal Ceremony be legally recognised?
Celebrant-led Vow Renewals are purely symbolic, so there are no legal or religious restrictions and they’re not therefore legally recognised. Registrars offer a legally recognised option, however, they must follow very strict guidelines, such as; using formal wording, holding the ceremony at a licensed venue and no religious content is allowed. Having a celebrant means you have complete reign over everything.
What do we do before and after our ceremony?
Your event can be as simple or as extravagant as you like! It’s always a good idea to put someone else in charge of welcoming your guests and showing them to their seats so that you can both relax and enjoy your day. Perhaps you’d like to have refreshments on offer as guests arrive and then provide food and drinks following the ceremony. There’s nothing stopping your guests enjoying a glass of bubbly during the ceremony, should you wish. You might like to ask your guests to sign a special book as a keepsake – you could ask them to include their favourite memories of you as a couple or words of wisdom. Maybe you’d like them to follow you to a local pub or restaurant after the ceremony. Why not display your original wedding photos and other meaningful pictures to take your guests on a trip down memory lane!
Can We include Religious, Spiritual and Cultural Aspects in Our Ceremony?
Yes, you can absolutely include spiritual, religious and cultural aspects in your ceremony should you wish! Maybe you hope to include elements that recognise different traditions and or embrace the bringing together of different faiths. You have the freedom to incorporate anything that’s significant to you, so you can have as many or as little of these features as your heart desires!
