Simply put, vows are your words of love and promises of lifelong commitment. They’re your chance to say, “This is what you mean to me, and this is what I promise". Think of them like a love letter spoken aloud. They are so romantic - I absolutely love this part and so does everyone present! It really is the most captivating and moving part of your ceremony for both you and your guests! Writing your own wedding vows is one of the most beautiful ways to show your love to one another and to keep your ceremony completely personal.

It can feel a little daunting at first; Where do I start? What should I include? I’ve helped countless couples put their love into words, and I know just how special (and emotional!) personal vows are. There's no need to overthink it, worry about saying the "right thing," or compare your vows to others — the most meaningful vows are always thoses that come straight from the heart. Whether you’re poetic or practical, romantic or lighthearted, your words should feel true to you and your relationship.

So, if you're ready to write vows that are sincere, and heartfelt, these top tips will help give you confidence and inspiration.

Tip #1 - Start early – give yourself time to reflect and jot down ideas as they come to you.

Tip #2 - Speak from your heart – your own words are always the most meaningful.

Tip #3 - Gather inspiration – include memories, feelings, and promises you’d like to make.

Tip #4 - Keep it authentic – don’t try to sound poetic or perfect, just be true to you.

Tip #5 - Chat with your partner – agree on a length (1–3 minutes is ideal) and tone.

Tip #6 - Write freely at first – edit later with a fresh perspective.

Tip #7 - Practice reading aloud – this helps with tweaking, while aiding your confidence and flow.

Tip #8 - Make eye contact – practice looking up at your partner while speaking.

Tip #9 - Ask for reassurance – Share them with someone you trust - I’m always happy to review your vows and offer support.

Tip #10 - Relax and enjoy it – if you stumble, smile or tear up, it just makes the moment more special.

💌 Remember: your vows don’t have to match your partner’s or be perfectly polished — they just need to be yours!

Writing your own vows is a beautiful way to make your ceremony truly personal, and I’m here to help every step of the way. Whether you’re brimming with ideas or you haven't a clue where to start, know that you're not alone. I’m always happy to help and offer reassurance, feedback, or a gentle nudge in the right direction.

On your wedding day, I’ll have your vows safely tucked into my ceremony folder, ready to give to you at just the right moment — so all you need to do is breathe, look into your partner’s eyes, and speak from the heart.

You’ve got this — and I’m right here to support you,
